A must read for S&W entusiasts! 12/23/2010

This book should be mandatory for anyone who truly enjoys buying, shooting and collecting Smith & Wessons. I have heard from other S&W enthusiasts that this book by Supica and Nahas is the best that's out there; I wholeheartedly agree! S&W is an American institution and this book confirms that. It is broken up into chapters so that, if your interest is in, lets say, J,K,L and N frame revolvers produced after 1955, you can zoom in and find everything that you are looking for. It gives invaluable information about how to assign a condition to a used gun and it would be something that I would take along to a gun dealer who is trying to overcharge or overestimates the value of a used gun. So for example, if a dealer tells you that he is charging $900 for a S&W model 19-3 bcause it was the "ultimate" police sidearm in the 70's, you'll be able to see that he is full of hot air. Get this book, skim it, study it, share it with your fellow shooters; it is money well spent!
Considered the "bible" for S&W collectors 10/4/2010
S&W Collector's Association Member from Glendale, Arizona
This book is considered the "bible" for serious S&W collectors. It appears that much of the information contained in the books was taken from previous works by Roy Jinks, the company historian for S&W. Overall, the information contained is extremely accurate with the exception of the "ship date" listings that have been established based upon serial number groups.
